“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to t he republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

“The Pledge should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute. Members of the Armed Forces not in uniform and veterans may render the military salute in the manner provided for persons in uniform.” …wikipedia.org

The flag represents sacrifices made in blood and soul of all those who died for our right to live in a free world; and to criticize it as well.

We salute the flag in recognition of those who died and pledge allegiance as a statement that we will do all we must to protect the rights we enjoy but may not recognize or appreciate.

NOT Pledging our allegiance to the flag ISN’T about liberalism OR Obama OR America’s standing in the world! It’s about pledging our commitment to a nation from which we have no problem accepting benefits and way of life.

According to many Americans like me, it’s time for you to leave us if the benefits afforded to you under the flag do not out-weigh your reason for not pledging allegiance.

In my opinion, any American (including President Obama) who will not salute the flag or show respect for the flag in defiance or to show disapproval of American Policy is stepping on the bodies of all those patriots who gave their lives, minds, limbs, and souls for the right to protest.

In my opinion, disrespecting the flag is AN UNACCEPTABLE WAY TO PROTEST. Please, would you protest policy in other ways that do NOT disrespect the lives of those who gave so much for this nation, for which it stands, and for your right to protest.

In other words, let me be clear in what I mean: If you do not like what the flag represents, if you do not like the policies of this nation, if you are ashamed of being an American, then please protest loudly but respectfully. Defiance toward our laws is one thing, but disrespecting the foundation of our nation and what the flag represents means you do not belong here and should leave (by choice or by force).
